Border Patrol agent arrested for harboring twice-deported illegal immigrant -- his father

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was charged Tuesday with harboring his father, a twice-deported illegal immigrant with a criminal record, in his house and then lying about his whereabouts to federal investigators, authorities said.

Marcos Gerardo Manzano Jr., 26, allegedly told his father that authorities were looking for him, and let him live at his residence in a working-class neighborhood of San Ysidro.

His father, Marcos Gerardo Manzano Sr., 46, was convicted of a marijuana offense in October 2006 and deported to Mexico a few months later, according to the criminal complaint filed in San Diego federal court.

Starting in September 2009, Manzano Sr. was seen regularly coming and going from his son’s home, according to the complaint. Last month, Manzano Jr. allegedly told an investigator inquiring about his father’s whereabouts that he had had no contact with him, although he admitted knowing he was a deported felon.

Manzano Jr. was arrested Monday night at the Border Patrol station in Imperial Beach. When an FBI Swat team raided Manzano Jr.’s home Tuesday morning, his father was gone. Another man in the residence, a deported illegal immigrant, was arrested.

The FBI is seeking Manzano Sr., who is considered a fugitive.

Manzano Jr. is charged with harboring illegal aliens and lying to federal investigators and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. The investigation was headed by the FBI-led Border Corruption Task Force, which was formed to handle a surge of corruption cases in recent years involving federal agents along the Southwest border.

when he gets convicted ...hopefully. deport the son.

What a fool

One of America's finest federal employees! Maybe Obama, or the GOP should outsource border patrol jobs too. And the conservatives are crying foul because of illegal immigrates, hypocrites!

SWAT teams raiding a home for harboring an illegal imigrant-these clowns are the morons of the world, no wonder this country is bankrupt.

Here is an idea-how about going after violent felons. Not wasting hundreds of man hours on a SWAT search of illegal immigrants.

how is this man charged with harboring a fugitive if neither of them were at the house when it was raided, with over a years worth of investigating and seeing the fugitive come and go as he pleased, why not hit the house when they're both there? seems like a lot of wasted time and money to me

Both the dope fiend illegal father and anchor-baby son need to do some serious prison time. This case is only the tip of an iceberg.

After a long laugh. I can understand the dilemma the officer faced. Protect his country or his father. But, the bottom line is that he was supposed to be enforcing the law. Not directly breaking the law.

after he convicted and did his time.....DEPORT THE SON !

Isn't it a conflict of interest to be a mexican border patrol agent?

I was in the military and considered applying for the border patrol until I noticed nearly all of their staff is mexican and communicate in spanish even among agents regarding non operation needs.

I have been waiting to hear strories about corrupt agents that aid immigrants.

Come on now, what does the feds expect, the force is over 50% Hispanic , with over 12 million illegal immigrants in the states, surely some of them have relatives that work there securing the border?

COME ON, Who, will not defend, his father? Unless , he is an assassin. But, for marijuana possession!!!! GIVE ME A BREAK...If is it for personal use., what's the big deal?. However. Swat team, storming the home of another, law officer!! it's AWFUL.

This has all the markings of a potential movie.

Hang the agent for TREASON!

Sounds like the Border Corruption Task Force is doing their job.

Deport this S O B !

Look at all these Anglo-American anchor babies trolling when they hear... "immigrant", like the one who serve honorably in the military... yeah, shut up. Thank god out president is half black, so you can go to sleep squirming each night.

To me family is everything and I would most likely do the same for my father.

Some of you xenophobes would turn in your own father then if this is how you would feel in his his position. you seriously want this guy to choose you or his job over his own father? Would you do the same if you were in his shoes? I'm a native born, tax paying American and I swear, if you can't protect your own father in your own country without idiots going all racist idiot on you for protecting your own father then what kind of society is this? He's supposed to help deport his own father? Go tell your dads then that if you were this guy you would have your own dad deported. Go do it. Oh, and wanting to deport the son: if he was white would you still want him deported? Hating on a guy for being a minority and for wanting to protect his own father. It's like 1930s Germany instead of 2011 USA sometimes.

Reading between the lines of this story, I am getting that the father was involved in drug trafficking, to be deported there would have to be big enough charges. One might further surmise that the son-was somehow involved and that is why man #3 was in the home, dad may have been on a run-or another border patrol agent warned him. This just sounds like corruption through and through for the FBI to be involved-much bigger than is being reported!

This is so sad. He was his FATHER! Why didn't they just tell the son to drive his dad across the border, and tell him to stay there? The son is a citizen, and his father has a record. But it is his FATHER. What would they thought of him if he had turned in his father? How could you work with a man who turned in his father?

Hahaha look at the gop go.... What Vitriol???

Power corrupts and absolute power absolutly corrupts.
What a waste of funds and time.

I'm sure your fathers would all be happy knowing that you'd sell them out if they were busted for having weed.

Illegal alien (AKA) PARASITE

1. An organism that lives on or in an organism of another species, known as the host, from the body of which it obtains nutriment.
2. A person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others.

This is a waste of time, are you telling me the FBI task force sent a swat team into a house after a deported felon who was deported for weeeeeeeeeeed? Oreali, they cant find any other corruption at the border, other than a son being a son to his father.
