Stretch of 5 Freeway in San Fernando Valley to close at night for construction

A 6.8-mile stretch of the southbound 5 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley will close from midnight tonight until 4 a.m. Tuesday because of construction, officials said.

The freeway will be closed from Osborne Street to the Hollywood Freeway while crews work on adding an HOV lane, Caltrans said.

The same stretch of freeway will also be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

More information on the $138-million project can be found on the Caltrans website.
