Time Warner Cable says it has fully restored service after massive outage

Time Warner Cable officials said Friday that they have fully restored service to the large portion of the company's 2 million California customers who were unable to access the Internet on Thursday night.

Customers may have to reboot their modems and routers to restore the service, said Darryl Ryan, a Time Warner Cable spokesperson.

The Internet outage stretched from Northern California to San Diego and lasted several hours, sparking a flurry of angry messages on Twitter from outraged customers.

Ryan said the company is still investigating the cause of the outage.

Why don't they ever offer a small credit for this type of stuff? You know... $5 off next month's bill or something.

That's Bull!!! We still don't have service

Common occurance with TWC-Los Angeles. I've had every service provider in this country and TWC-LA is the absolute WORST for service and reliability (even Charter is better!). A couple of years ago, my internet was down for an entire week. This has occurred off-and-on for the past 3 years. No apology or excuse. This is exactly why the City Attorney went after them. It's unfortunate that they continue to offer the worst Internet service. Comcast, Cox, Verizon, AT&T, DirecTV, DISH, Charter, and the smaller telecoms don't have these issues. TWC needs to get booted out of LA. They suck!

I'm in Toluca Lake and our internet is still down. It was up for a couple hours this morning but it has been down for the past hour or so.

More tales from Time Warner. It's still out here in La Jolla as of 3:45pm... and has been since around 4pm yesterday. A brief outage is understandable - 24 hours is ridiculous. Sent via phone.

Finally. Its been out for ages!

Mine is still out in San Dimas, Ca. So yea, had to resort to tethering my phone to post this. On top of that, I haven't been able to get a hold of a customer service representitive, every time I get to waiting line on the phone a message promptly tells me I cannot be connected and hangs up on me.

I pay about 70$ a month for their service and I can't even get on, or have to download with slow speeds, but cable is the only ISP my complex allows, guess I'll just have to wait.

That's BULL!!! We STILL don't have internet connection!

T/W should issue credit of some sort. I've lost service for more 12 hours.

Keep investigating because my internet is still out and Time Warner isn't answering calls.

I wonder if the California west coast internet outage on Thursday Dec 2 2010 and the New England east coast internet outage on Sunday Nov 28 2010 have anything to do with each other? So close in time, I wonder if the powers that be ran a test to see what might happen if everyone lost the ability to converse? The Patriot act has taken so many other rights away, what's one more? I think you'd notice this one... and odd, they can't seem to find out what caused it.. Sound familiar? Wow.....

Friday Dec. 3, 2010 I still couldn't access the internet. I'm really really disappointed about it and I'm about to switch to different company.

FCC must investigate this. They have an ad that is running now claims DSL is so and so, they claim that their price is the lowest, they claim so and so. Once you sign the contract with them, there is a lot of things that change over the time. the only good thing that is their side is that that they still have good and professional customer service, otherwise, their cable sucks, and is so expensive, their phone line is another failure, their road runner internet was the best until a year and some months ago, yet the other are not better than this, AT&T are bunch of thugs, Verizon have so many law suits pending against them, one of them was about their bogus charges, and the ugly time Warner or (Time Abuser) is joining them . Will the legislators do anything that is good for the public, or they only know how to get bribes?

Big deal! Stop complaining. It's not the end of the world!

Investigate further. It's still out in Costa Mesa. We would have told them to shove it a long time ago, but Verizon won't cone to Costa Mesa and we are just out of range for the AT&T box. And they say they aren't running a monopoly. Seems to me that when you are left with only one option, that is a monopoly.

Don't believe it! Our internet is still down in Los Angeles and it's been 7 days so far. Last time I tried to reach Time Warner it took 45 minutes to get through to a live person only to find out no eta on recovery - horrible to deal with.
