December 11, 2010 |  3:52 pm

One of two people aboard a single-engine plane that crashed Saturday at Chino Municipal Airport was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The pilot of the Mooney M20J was practicing takeoffs and landings about 12:40 p.m. when the plane caught fire and crashed on the runway.

It was not known whether the injured person was the pilot or passenger. The other person was uninjured, the FAA said.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. The plane is registered to Ground Floor Design Inc. out of Tustin.
