Man with knife is fatally shot by Santa Ana police officer

A man with a knife was shot and killed by a Santa Ana police officer Friday night, police said.

Two officers were dispatched to check an area around 1100 S. Poplar St. for possible gang activity a little after 9:30 p.m. One of the officers entered an alley and was confronted by a man with a knife, police said.

The officer fired one shot and hit the man in the torso, police said. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died hours later.

don't bring a knife to a gunfight thug.
Let's just hope it wasn't some alley way drunk with a pen knife.

cool story

why was he shot and killed? i work in a penal institution and understand the primary concern being "safety and security," but this seems excessive!

thats what happens when you bring a knife to a gun fight

In a way, I agree with Keven Langley below, it was justifiable homicide.

Homicide just the same.

@none

you work in a penal institution and don't recognize that a man with a knife is a deadly threat???

wow, get a clue before you or someone working with you gets hurt
