December 13, 2010 |  2:00 pm

San Diego police are investigating a late-night brawl that sent one man to the hospital and may have involved members of the San Diego Chargers football team, police officials said Monday.

The incident occurred near the Bar West in Pacific Beach. By the time police arrived shortly after 2 a.m., witnesses and participants had fled, officials said.

By mid-morning police had been told that Chargers players had been present, although their role, if any, in the fight that sent a man in his 20s to the hospital is unknown. The names of the Chargers players were not released.

The Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-0, on Sunday at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium.
