Chase ends in 4-car crash that leaves 5 people injured

December 10, 2010 | 11:21 pm

Five people were injured Friday night in a four-car crash caused by a suspected drunk driver who led Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on a chase that started in Calabasas, authorities said.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was under arrest at a nearby hospital.

He was pinned inside the car and was initially reported to be in critical condition, but “it might be that he was just complaining of pain,” said sheriff's Lt. Andy Ross. “He is still being examined.”

The crash happened at 8:29 p.m. at 1700 Nordhoff St., near Balboa Boulevard, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The four other patients suffered minor to moderate injuries, Ross said.
