Man battles Santa Monica nativity scene with nonreligious display of his own

Linking LAHOLIDAY FIGHT: A nativity scene in Santa Monica has prompted Damon Vix to create a scene of his own, this one criticizing the Christmas display. According to the Santa Monica Daily Press:

The Hollywood prop maker is the man behind a display that can be found just south of the nativity scenes that features quotes from the founding fathers about the importance of the separation of church and state. A quote from President Thomas Jefferson is by far the most visible. It reads: "Religions are all alike, founded upon fables and mythologies." On the back of the display there's another sign that says: "Happy Solstice," in recognition of the winter solstice on Dec. 21.

NO LOJACK NEEDED: Here's one way to secure your car. Literally chain it to a telephone pole, like this guy in Echo Park. (Eastsider L.A.)

Mr. Vix must have been raised in a very sad home. Too bad.

Thomas Jeffersons opionion all but one who thought of seperation of church and state, how about the countless other representatives of his time thought quite the opposite. In fact historically other notable figures of his era didnt agree with his opinion. Good that DVix is practicing his freedom of expression. The Nativity is also a freedom of expression Merry Christmas.

Thank you Damon Vix,

Think the Church and State will ever truly be separated?

What good is a law that's not enforced.

Think a divorce would help "We the People?"

Wonder if that's why bounty picker upper paper towels exists "Clause?"

Happy Fable and Mythology Eve

"Religions are exclusive by definition, where a solstice is universal and more appropriate for a park." - Damon Vic

Yet another person propagating ignorant information. Dear Damon, please learn about that which you oppose before opening your mouth and showing your ignorance.

Christianity based solely on the teachings of Christ is about inclusion of everyone and anyone.

Some religious institutions are corrupted due to the imperfection of humans themselves; but Christianity is NOT the property of any single sect or organization.
