Man suspected of DUI during rainstorm crashes car, killing passenger

A Santa Ana man suspected of driving while under the influence during a rainstorm Tuesday smashed into a light pole in Irvine, killing one of the vehicle's passengers, police said.

Tapu Aniceto Sitagata, 27, was arrested about a half-block away from Culver and Irvine Center drives about 3:07 a.m. on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run.

Police said he was running away from the scene of the crash, which also injured a second passenger.

Sitagata suffered minor injuries and was being treated at a local hospital.

Alcohol is legal, kills hundreds of thousands a year. Marijuana, which according to the CDC hasn't killed anyone, is illegal. What is wrong with this picture?

As another poster pointed out. The United States is so rich we now have to import trash.

It's funny, or not, how marijuana users are the designated scapegoats for the crimes committed by alcohol abusers. Merry Hypocrites Day, prohibitionists.

To the commenter who stated that the CDC says marijuana hasn't ever killed anyone, that is entirely inaccurate. A woman named Jaye Wass died in a HORRIFIC crash in October in Santa Cruz caused by a driver high on medical marijuana. This is just one of many, many marijuana-related auto accident deaths that happen every single year in California.
