Long Beach police kill man after gun report

Long Beach police shot and killed a man Sunday afternoon shortly after responding to a call from the Belmont Shore area about a man brandishing a gun.

The shooting took place shortly after 4:40 p.m. in the courtyard of an apartment complex on the 5300 block of East Ocean Boulevard, said Sgt. Rico Fernandez of the Long Beach Police Department.

The victim was an adult male. No officers were injured in the incident.

No further details were available and the shooting is under investigation by the homicide division and Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, as is standard with officer-involved shootings, Fernandez said.

I sure hope the family win a Wrongful death lawsuit and the officers & Sr. Officers are fired. Long Beach Police might take a course in firearms and buy a pair of binoculars. IDIOTS!

Gee, it must be nice to get away with murder on a daily basis, and be called a hero for it.

hmm well there trained to protect and serve and lets say they would have never shot but the man shot them...its either they die or he does, there just doing the right thing. what kinda nut case would flash a gun anyways!?

Where are all the protests?? An illegal alien waiving a knife at everyone including the cops in MacArthur park gets shot and an entire community practically riots for weeks. Here we have an intoxicated individual sitting on the patio of his best friend's patio because he choose not to drive because of his intoxication. Cops show up, never identify themselves to him, never notify the victim of their presence and then claim he aimed a gun at someone who he never could have known was there in the 1st place. If anyone should have a riot it should be for this guy. I not only hope for civil culpability in the millions but criminal culpability against these brain dead, morons who killed this guy in cold blood.

Show me the picture of any gun made on the planet with a brass barrel! There is none!

Long Beach county should be taken to court for their nonsense action toward this poor incosent man who was just watering its plants our its backyard.LBPD (long beach police department) should be sew for their actions.NO compassion should be involve in this case.

Why do we waste time with this? Police are above the law. We know that now. It's a beautiful thing to repeat 'no one is above the law"! Who believes that? We have gone so far as to see a riverside cop shoot someone in the back, and then we see what has to be the most ignorant group of idiots on a jury let him off! If you can't convict cops on video, what chance is there?
the worst we'll see is the cops off work PAID. Wow, a paid vacation (that'll teach them). Then the infamous "the police will receive further training" on not shooting people for holding garden hose nozzels. Give me a break!
