Mountain town of Green Valley Lake sealed off by flooding, rock slides

December 22, 2010 |  8:22 pm

Because of flooding and rock slides, the community of Green Valley Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains is effectively sealed in.

Both roads in and out of the community -- California Highways 330 and 18 -- are closed. The town has about 800 permanent residents and 1,100 homes.

The local store was almost out of milk, but the malt shop had plenty of chicken nuggets. The few residents and vacationers in town were in good spirits.
