More than 10 inches of rain had fallen in some areas of the Santa Monica Mountains, and more than 5 inches had been recorded in downtown Los Angeles since rain began hitting the region Thursday, the National Weather Service said Monday evening.

Corral Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains has recorded 10.25 inches; downtown L.A., 5.27 inches;  and Beverly Hills, 6.57 inches, the agency said.

In the South Bay, Torrance has gotten 2.23 inches, and Redondo Beach, 3.25 inches.

The rainfall broke records Sunday as the region was pelted by a series of storms generated in the Pacific.
