Christmas trees topple on downtown L.A. freeway [Updated]

A truck hauling thousands of pounds of Christmas trees toppled on the northbound 101 Freeway connector to the southbound 110 Freeway early Friday, snarling traffic for morning commuters.

The transition road just north of downtown Los Angeles will be closed until at least noon, authorities said.

There was no word yet on what caused the accident and no injuries had been reported.

[Updated at 7:09 a.m.: The trees were not strewn about the freeway but remained inside the container, which had toppled over on its side.]
