Fire at Camp Pendleton shuts two lanes of 5 Freeway

Smoke from a grass fire at Camp Pendleton caused the California Highway Patrol to shut down two northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway on Saturday afternoon.

The fire, near the Las Pulgas entrance to the sprawling base, was extinguished by base firefighters without any injuries or damage to structures. The two lanes were closed for about 45 minutes, officials said.
