A man was in custody Saturday in connection with the shooting death of a 33-year-old woman in an unincorporated area of Torrance.

Authorities responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 900 block of Gastine Street found the woman about 10:25 p.m. Friday inside a house with a gunshot wound to her upper torso, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. said. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives detained a 30-year-old man at the house. The suspected murder weapon was recovered at the scene. No other information was given.
