November 6, 2010 |  9:02 pm

A San Fernando police officer shot at a man Saturday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The officer fired at the shot around 9 a.m. in the 200 block of Alexander Street in San Fernando, a sheriff's deputy said. The man was injured, although it is unclear if he was hit by gunfire, and was taken to a hospital for treatment, the deputy said.

Sheriff's detectives were investigating the incident, and it was unclear why the officer, who was not identified, fired at the suspect.
