Rain, thunder, snow and wind are in the forecast for this weekend for large parts of Southern California.

According to the National Weather Service, a storm moving in Saturday morning will dump up to 1.5 inches of rain in coastal and valley areas and up to 2.5 inches in the mountain areas. Forecasters have issued winter storm warnings and wind warnings for parts of the region on Saturday. The snow level is expected to be at about 7,000 feet Friday night but drop to 4,000 feet by Saturday night.

More rain and cold temperatures are on tap for Sunday.

The weather service said wind gusts could top 35 mph in some mountain and canyons, and it's possible the Grapevine could see traffic delays.
