Newborn baby found dead in trash can

A newborn baby was found dead in a North Hollywood trash can Monday, and the mother has been taken into custody, police said Tuesday.

The infant was found about 7 p.m. in the 4500 block of Simpson Avenue, said Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The gender of the baby was not released, and an autopsy is pending, Winter said.

The mother of the child was in custody and is being questioned, said Richard French, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

Maybe I'm naive, ignorant, OR call me what you will...
BUT DON'T THESE KIDS KNOW THAT THEY CAN DROP THERE NEW BORN'S AT ANY HOSPITAL, POLICE STATION, FIRE STATION, AND NO QUESTIONS ASKED NO TROUBLE WHAT SO EVER, BY LAW THEY HAVE TO TAKE THEM!!!!
DO WE NOT ADVERTISE THIS GREAT SERVICE ENOUGH????

ARE THESE KIDS THAT SCARED OF THEIR PARENTS.... I THINK THE PARENTS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHEN THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!! SORRY FOR CAPS, BUT THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A common phrase is "don't do the crime if you can't do the time." In the case of children, "don't get kinky under the cover, if you're not ready to be a mother."

Sad story.

Be prepared to see a lot more stories like this once the right wing Christian ProLife fanatics take hold of a woman's reproductive organs.

She'll come up with a sob story... nobody cares...she'll get on with her life.... NOW, if she had done this to a puppy or a kitten, that would be a DIFFERENT story.....hmmmmmm

@ Cara....i am not pro lifer....but what does that have to do with anything...she had a choice to terminate the pregnancy (its still legal in the u.s.)...or she could have dropped the baby off at the hospital with no questions asked.

So how do you come up with "right wing fanatics" from this story?

I swear all you political fanatics (on both sides) need to take a chill pill and stop attacking each other...its getting pretty old!!!

Maybe this was just a late term abortion. If so, no harm no foul.

Why isn't the father being held for neglect? It takes two to make a baby.

So sad; that baby is in my prayers.
