“Mystery missile” was probably an aircraft, government says
A Pentagon official said that an examination of radar data, satellite imagery and other sophisticated monitoring technology by multiple U.S. government agencies has turned up no conclusive evidence that a missile was fired in that vicinity and at that time.
Even U.S. agencies that monitor launches of rockets by private individuals or companies had no information of a launch, he said.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said that FAA records showed commercial airliners were flying in the area at the time, and that most government experts were coming to the conclusion that the condensation trail was caused by an aircraft. "The best we can tell, it was probably caused by an aircraft," the official said.
John Pike, director of globalsecurity.org, a website for military policy research, agrees. He said the idea that the government would carry out a secret launch illuminated at sunset, within view of 8 million Angelenos, is hard to believe.
"If it were secret, we'd do it at night in Alaska where only the caribou could see it," Pike said. "It's an airplane contrail, pure and simple."
The vehicle is not moving fast enough and does not have the trajectory characteristics of a rocket, he said. The reason people think it's a rocket is because it's an optical illusion, he said.
The plane is coming over the horizon, straight at the camera. Because of the angle and the lighting at sunset it appears as a rocket rising, he said.
"I've seen a lot of rocket and airplane contrails over the years," he said. "What I saw was an airplane contrail."

If it was a missile, how come there is not news of the remains?

I'm out in Malibu, and I just witnessed two F-22's flying overhead, at a pretty low altitude. There is also a Coast Guard vessel out near Paradise Cove this morning. Strange turn of events to say the least after this missile launch.

The government is in full swing cover-up mode on this one--even to the point of having several of their dis-information people posting comments on this list in support of a jet contrail.
They will most likely stick with this lie and keep repeating it forever. Eventually the focus of the public will be diverted by another big event and the mystery 'missile' will be swept into the dustbin of forgotten events.

Somebodies finger slipped on the button, and a split second later the cover up began.

'You all should probably apply for jobs at CNN. You have all the qualifications. No data, no knowledge, endless ignorant speculation. The more spectacular the better. When this is all shaken out, I believe there will be a LOT less there than apparently met the eye.'
-Larry.
Let's take a look at the data then. Pentagon has no idea what it was, furiously makes phone calls, decides it was an aeroplane, case closed.
It could be an error and the authorities don't want to admit their incompetence, or it could be something much more sinister, such as a false flag/display of strength before the G20 or a foreign power.
At least they didn't insult our intelligence and attempt to call it nothing more than a weather balloon.

Google CHEMTRAILS and you will learn lots. It is part of H.A.A.R.P. the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Project based out of Alaska - weather modification. They have been spraying the sky for years. Do you see giant X's in the skies or long white lines the SPREAD out and get bigger? That is not normal. Contrails don't do that, they should get smaller and disappear.

I can't believe that everyone has not brought up the only obvious explanation for this rocket. This rocket was a North Korean missle fired from either a sub or a trawler, as a way to give us a warning that they have the ability to retaliate against our native soil if we become involved in the escalating Korean conflict. They have nuclear arms and they have scud missles that could easily travel 50 miles. If this missle was pointed the other way and would have a nuclear tip warhead, they could have destroyed Los Angeles. Obviously the miliary is aware of this threat but they are playing it down so as to not cause panic.
