Police in Compton are looking for the driver of a red Lexus who they said hit a 7-year-old boy in front of a school and fled.

The unidentified boy complained of pain after the 8:55 a.m. incident outside Dickison Elementary School on North Aranbe Avenue and was taken to a hospital, said Sgt. Raul Regalado of the Compton Police Department. He said the boy did not appear to have any major injuries.

He said police were using a helicopter to look for the Lexus; no further details were available about the car.
