Driver dies, 2 others injured in collision in Saugus

November 26, 2010 |  9:25 pm

The driver of a compact car that ran a red light Friday night in Saugus died at a hospital of injuries that didn't initially appear life-threatening, authorities said.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, failed to stop at a light at Hillsborough Parkway and Decoro Drive, said Sgt. Brian Allen of the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station. The victim's vehicle collided with a minivan; the mother and son in the minivan were slightly injured, Allen said.

The 6:12 p.m. accident was still being investigated, and Allen said it wasn't yet known whether alcohol or other substances might have been involved.

The victim's identity was not released because his relatives had not yet been notified, Allen said.
