Doctors fear Zsa Zsa Gabor's blood clots could cause heart attack

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef013485847b41970c-300wi Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to a Westwood hospital Friday because doctors feared blood clots in her legs could cause a heart attack, her publicist said.

John Blachette said the 93-year-old star is being treated in the emergency room at Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately available.

She was taken from her home earlier in the day.

Gabor has been battling health problems for the last few months, and has been in and out of hospitals dealing with infections and blood clots.

It would be unusual for blood clots to cause a heart attack. Blood clots in the leg may cause a pulmonary embolus. A pulmonary embolus can occur when the blood clots in the legs travel up to the heart.

Generally doctors fear little. They are used to the messy nature of death.
