Cal State students will pay more. Is that necessary? Is that fair?
Predictably, the California State University Board of Trustees' decision to hike undergraduate tuition 15% has caused a strong reaction in comments and social media.
The two-step increase will raise undergraduate fees 5%: $105 for the rest of the school year, and an additional 10% -- or about $440 -- next year. The trustees argued that the increase is necessary to provide more students access to the Cal State system. Protesters, and most commenters, disagreed.
