Barbara-BoxerAtty. Gen. Jerry Brown and Sen. Barbara Boxer are projected to win their races for governor and U.S. senator, according to a Times analysis.

According to exit polls, Brown was headed for a decisive victory over Republican Meg Whitman.  Boxer was leading former Hewlett-Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina after a bruising multimillion-dollar campaign. The Democratic incumbent bucked the national tide that saw Republicans make gains in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
