40% chance of rain in L.A. area; snow level drops to 5,000 feet

Temperatures are warming slightly in Southern California, but there is a 40% chance of rain forecast for part of the region Saturday night.

The National Weather Service said scattered showers will move in this evening. There is a 20% chance of rain Sunday morning.

In the L.A. basin, expect sunny skies Saturday morning, with clouds moving in in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from the high 60s to the mid 40s.

Frost advisories remain in effect for some high desert and valley areas until 9 a.m. And the weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for Southern California mountains, were the snow level is expected to drop to 5,000 feet this weekend.
