18-year-old shot to death in East Los Angeles [Updated]

Authorities are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old male killed early Saturday in East Los Angeles.

The victim, a resident of Los Angeles, was found in the 500 block of South Indiana Street, the Los Angeles County  Sheriff’s Dept. said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was given.

[Updated at 11:48 a.m.: The victim was identified as Sergio Guzman by Lt. Brian Elias of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. Elias said Guzman was attending a party at a residence when he was shot.]

[Updated at 6:40 p.m.: Since January 2007, at least 23 other homicides have taken place within a mile of Guzman's killing, according to coroner's data collected for The Times interactive Homicide Report.
