West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval expected to bring big crowds, big traffic headaches
The annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval is expected to generate big crowds but also traffic tie-ups in the area Sunday.
This year's event will include a tribute to the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" as well as an attempt to set a world-record "The Time Warp" dance.
Many of the street closures take effect at noon. The city of West Hollywood announced the following traffic restrictions:
-- Santa Monica Boulevard closed between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard including all side streets. Noon Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
-- Almont Drive and La Peer Drive closed from Santa Monica Boulevard to Melrose Avenue. Noon Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
-- Robertson Boulevard closed between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. Noon Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
-- San Vicente Boulevard between Cinthia Street and Melrose Avenue. Noon Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
-- Santa Monica Boulevard closed between La Cienega Boulevard and Holloway Drive/Croft Avenue. 4 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
-- La Cienega Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. 4 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday. Note: Northbound La Cienega Boulevard will be open between Holloway Drive and Sunset Boulevard.
-- Sunset Boulevard eastbound and westbound turn lanes onto La Cienega Boulevard closed. 4 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
