Two former San Bernardino County officials fined for accepting country club memberships

Two former San Bernardino County officials have been fined by the state Fair Political Practices Commission for accepting gifts of membership dues to the Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino.

The FPPC ruled at a Thursday meeting that Judith Valles, the former mayor of the city of San Bernardino, exceeded state-mandated gift limits of $340 in 2004 and $360 in 2005. She was fined $400.

Former county Sheriff Gary Penrod was fined $200 for exceeding the limit in 2005.
