Three-year-old trick-or-treater hurt in hit-and-run accident

A 3-year-old girl was struck by a hit-and-run driver while trick-or-treating.

A 3-year-old girl and her mother were injured in a hit-an-run accident in South Los Angeles while they were out trick-or-treating on Halloween night, according to news reports.

The young girl was critically injured Sunday evening when she was struck by a vehicle at 77th Street and Stanford Avenue, CBS 2 news reported. Her mother sustained minor cuts and bruises.

The child's bucket of candy was strewn across the street.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The vehicle was described in news reports as a red Toyota. Witnesses told CBS 2 news that the driver appeared to be speeding.
