Body found in ashes of Castaic brush fire

Body
Firefighters putting out a small brush fire north of Castaic on Monday morning discovered a body in the smoldering ashes, authorities said.

Sheriff's Department and coroner's investigators have been called to the scene of the early morning fire off Interstate 5 at Templin Highway, where flames were reported at 5:39 a.m., said Ed Pickett, a Los Angeles County Fire Department supervising dispatcher.

The fire was knocked down in about an hour, he said.

Firefighters found the body as they were dousing embers, said Robert Diaz, a spokesman for the Fire Department. An identity or gender was not immediately available.

Investigators were trying to determine what caused the brush fire.

yikes

It's a shame to read of this loss of life. Lake Castaic is a great location for family picnics and water activities.

RIP.Someone trying to burn a body,I am sure.

Get the forensic team on this ASAP....

This is very sad. I'm suspicious that this poor victims' demise might have been the cause of the fire.

Thats crazy!

Was the fire a cover-up for a murder?

Perhaps the fire was set in relation to the body - so that evidence on the body is burned, etc.

what caused the fire? Wife kills husband, burns body, leaves a brush fire. Mystery solved

This reminds me of the body found a few weeks ago burning in Norco, and then another burning body found in the inland empire a few days later. I think we have to consider the possibility that we have a serial killer out there.

this is scary... we alway go to lake castaic... sad to hear the lost of this individual life.

BURNINGMAN!!!

You know, I didn't even read this story. I just want to say this whole goddamn system of having to log into a third party site just to post a comment on some pages but not others is f--king stupid. It doesn't even work or let me log in half the goddamn time. Your IT people or Webmasters or whoever they are are useless... Worst technically run website since Myspace.

what caused the fire?? well maybe trying to discard the body would be the cause of the fire??? DUH!

Ive lived here for over 5 years its a great place to raise a family with a low crime rate. The Santa Clarita PD WILL find the person or people responable for this crime. RIP

I think this is a case of someone smoking and falling asleep with a lit cigarette.

I'll bet you a 10 bucks it was spontaneous combustion.

Murder!
