Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s divorce is finalized

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's marriage to Corina Villaraigosa is officially dissolved, a court spokesman said Wednesday.

Villaraigosa's wife, Corina Villaraigosa, filed for divorce in June 2007, citing "irreconcilable differences." She made the move to end their 20-year marriage after Villaraigosa publicly accepted responsibility for their separation, saying he felt a "personal sense of failure."

At the time, the announcement capped months of speculation about the status of their marriage. After the divorce announcement, The Times reported that Villaraigosa had been dating former Telemundo anchor Mirthala Salinas and traced their relationship back at least 18 months. He acknowledged they were dating and said, "I take full responsibility for my actions."

Villairagosa is now dating KTLA Channel 5 reporter Lu Parker, a former Miss USA. They have been together since March 2009.

The fact that Tony Villar cheated on his wife is completely irrelevant to his job as mayor. I would rather have a great mayor who is an infidel than a mayor who is incompetent, who panders to voters based entirely on ethnic appeals, who is so dumb he can't pass the bar exam, who puts in place terrible lieutenants who cannot do their jobs but have them simply because they are loyal to the mayor, who promoted giant increases in salaries for public employees every time new tax money flowed in but had no money to pay them when the housing bubble burst ... oh, wait.
