L.A. County deputy, 1 other person injured in traffic accident

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy and a second person were hospitalized Tuesday night following a traffic collision in La Mirada.

Sgt. Joseph Fleischmann with the Sheriff's Department's Norwalk Station said the crash took place shortly after 10 p.m. at La Mirada Boulevard and Oakwood Lane.

Dispatch supervisor Phil Ulloa of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said the crash involved the deputy’s car and one other vehicle. The cause and nature of the crash were unknown.

The deputy was trapped in the vehicle and was extracted by emergency personnel. He and an occupant of the second vehicle were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

The deputy’s name has not been released.

La Mirada Boulevard remains closed between Tacuba Drive and Foster Road. Fleishmann could not say when the roadway would reopen.
