Hot October in L.A. will slowly cool this week

October 11, 2010 | 12:39 pm

After a broiling October weekend in Southern California, temperatures are expected to slowly decrease over the next few days.

The weekend was marked by temperatures in the high 90s in some places. On Monday, the National Weather Service forecast temperatures in the 80s in the L.A. Basin and near 90 in inland areas.

The conditions will continue mid-week. By Friday, highs in the L.A. Basin should be in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Despite the hot conditions over the weekend, it was far from the hottest recorded for this time of year. In 1971, an October heat wave brought 100-degree temperatures to downtown Los Angeles.
