Oc Investigators on Sunday were investigating an unusual slaying in which an 81-year-old man was accused of fatally beating  his 94-year-old roommate at a Laguna Hills nursing home.

Officials have released a photo of the suspect, William McDougall.

He allegedly took a bar used to hang clothes from a closet and repeatedly struck his roommate, Manh Ban Nguyen of Laguna Woods, said Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.

Amormino said detectives were trying to uncover the motive for the alleged assault, which took place around 11:20 p.m. Friday at Palm Terrace Healthcare Center, a 99-bed residential facility.

Nguyen, who was found beaten around the head, was pronounced dead at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, Amormino said.
