About 2,500 people without power in L.A.

About 2,500 people were without power Tuesday night in Los Angeles as a result of problems caused by rain and wind, the Department of Water and Power said.

The utility, which serves 1.4 million customers, said that its crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible and that electric service had been restored to about 50,000 people since the wet and windy weather began Monday.

Cheviot Hills had about 2,000 customers without power, the DWP said. Scattered outages were also reported in Venice and Palms.
