Woman, 57, slain in Santa Ana

September 30, 2010 | 10:51 pm

Santa Ana police Thursday night were investigating the slaying of a 57-year-old woman who was discovered by her son.

Police responded about 2:30 a.m. and found Rebeca Garcia dead in her home in the 1900 block of Carlton Place, where she operated a caretaker business, the Santa Ana Police Department said.

She was found by her son after he woke up to go to work, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Detectives interviewed people at the home and discovered that Garcia's car and another one of her sons were missing. They are seeking to interview the son, Bertagna said.

He declined to say how the woman died, pending an autopsy that is expected to be conducted Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (714) 245-8400.
