Who owns Paris Hilton's purse? Doesn't matter, Las Vegas police say
Whether Paris Hilton owned the purse she was carrying that contained cocaine is irrelevant, Las Vegas police say.
What is important is she had possession of it with narcotics inside, they say.
Hilton has insisted the purse she was arrested with Saturday night is not hers. And in the days since, several websites have produced photos she allegedly posted on Twitter before her arrest of the purse in question.
But Las Vegas Police Metro police say what is relevant are the credit cards, cash and prescription medications inside the purse that did belong to her.
“We took the narcotics but gave her back the purse. It does not matter if she says the purse is not hers, it was in her possession,” Las Vegas Officer Barbara Morgan said in an e-mail to the Times. “I cannot tell you how many times I have found narcotics in people's pants pockets, and they tell me the pants are not theirs. We don’t take their pants from them.”
She was arrested Saturday with her boyfriend, Las Vegas nightclub operator Cy Waits, who was driving the black SUV stopped by police at 11:22 p.m. after police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and pulled it over.

But officer, would you believe me if I told you the bag belongs to Lindsay Lohan and I was just borrowing it for the weekend?

Yea, it's a really LAME defense.
Time to grow up Paris.

So the wealthy druggie is a liar too...what a surprise!

What a piece of work she is. Purse is in her possession, credit cards etc in the purse are hers, but the purse isn't? HA! No jury's gonna believe that.

How dumb can you get, you're never going to know 'til you've met Paris Hilton, she's so dumb, she'll end up in prison with the rest of the scum :) I'm still uncertain as to whether or not she has a brain.. too bad she doesn't use it to avoid such situations instead of trying to come up with idiotic excuses after the fact. Wonder what purse she'll be carrying to match her Department of Corrections jump suit?

No matter how well-heeled they are, a loser is still a loser.

In Ms Paris' defense, when chicks go out they sometimes will put pertinent things in another chicks purse if they are not gonna carry a purse themselves. So its probable that the lip gloss, cc's, id and cash was hers but not the narcotics. I believe you Paris : )

The alibi that spoiled brat ex-convict Paris Hilton has been claiming was
an old tactic employed by millions of law breakers throughout the whole
world since time immemorial. Hard core criminals have used it , neophites
learned it, recidivist applies it, all law breakers knew it, Paris Hilton did
it. So, what is new ? Fact of the matter is, the purse was in her possession, in the vehicle she was in, together with her own boyfriend, and without someone else riding with them. How much clearer should it be before you could be convinced that it was hers ?
No judge in his/her right senses will see it otherwise. Nontheless, since
America's justice is a Jury System, the woman still has a chance to be
exonerated with the help of one stupid jury who might be her protege.
or a fan, or a friend, or just anybody who does not understand the crime she is being accused of. This is the irony we are facing but since it is the system, we cannot do much but simply despair.

The oldest excuse in the book. I hope they really let her have it poor little rich girl!!!I wonder if she knows that pot is a felony in the state of Nevada? THey should let her mingle with the rest of the scum in prison!

I don't know. Normally I would say ya, she did it. But since the actual reason paris got pulled over was the smell of marijuana. But where IS the marijuana. All we keep hearing about is the coke. No where do we hear that any marijuana was found. Sorry but I am going to have to call B.S. on that one.

Felicia, if that were true and the drugs weren't hers, why would she ask to go to the bathroom right after being stopped and while the vehicle was being searched? It's a rhetorical question in the sense that obviously she wanted to dump the drugs.

Nevada is NOT California and the justice system is ruthless even on so called celebrities. Paris is in big trouble and will mostly end up with OJ in Lovelock state prison where the brainless twit belongs.

"Not my purse! Just 'cause I was carrying it, and all my stuff was in it, doesn't mean it was mine."
Oh man. That was the funniest thing I read all day. Thanks LAT for making me smile this morning.

Here's something also to consider...... so she had a packet of cocaine. She also had $1,300.00 worth of cash. Normal for you and I to walk around with? It would plausible, mind you also a stretch, to say that the cash was generated from the selling of cocaine in those little packets. Only problem, Paris sold all but one of the packets.
Search her house and cars to see if you find more. I am sure you will. Then you can get her for distribution and lock her up longer, or, the DA can use it to leverage the idea to get her some serious jail time for the other charges.

Oh puh-leaze! This is what lowlife hoodlums do when caught in possession of something. You're Paris Hilton, are you really going to stoop to that level? You're rich, buy your way out of trouble like all the other rich ones do.

I believe that some girls engage in a playful practice of borrowing and loaning a purse from their girlfriend if it is a "cute" or "really hot" purse.
Then, of course, a girl would place her own possessions inside the purse which she has now borrowed from her girlfriend.
I believe Ms. Hilton is telling the truth here. The purse is borrowed and the contents belong to her.
The cocaine was never seen in the purse. It was first seen in the palm of the hand of the Las Vegas Metro Lieutenant when he outstretched his arm and opened his palm next to the purse.
Why do you think they had a Lieutenant there to detain Ms. Hilton?
Because this needed to be done right.
This was a pre-planned and carefully executed event which was commissioned by someone.
Who?
I don't know, but I would start by asking "who gains"?
One thing is for sure. In the same way that O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson
became tools of the media circus, Ms. Hilton inherited the role.
Whenever Ms. Hilton is involved in some sensational event almost all popular media outlets will focus their reporting on her.
When there is a Paris Hilton sensation/scandal update, it trumps and bumps almost any story which came before.
Now ask yourself, who would want media focus diverted to Paris in Vegas.
What do they want the public and media to miss while our attention is on her.
Don't forget, although her arrest was in Las Vegas - it serves to distract the Los Angeles broadcast outlets more than anywhere.

C'mon u guys the rich gets away all the time, and remember this is a Hilton. If this was a common man, off to jail, no questions ask, game over. In your possession, you're busted, plain and simple. And she wanted to use the restroom, hope they didn't let her. If they did, well then game over, she's free.

I think her 15 minutes is just about over. The companies she endorses are going to distance themselves from her. Coke heads aren't good for business.
She's a worthless human being anyhow.
And this business about it not being her purse. How many people can afford a $3600 purse. The company that sold it to her keeps records you know. Notwithstanding the fact that she tweeted about it a few weeks ago. What an idiot!

Hilton should have taken up prison minister, Marty Angelo's offer back in 2007 when he offered to serve her jail time if she would enroll and complete a 12-month faith-based program. Her old life would have been long behind her, just like Lindsay Lohan who was offered the same deal. These women are proving by their actions that they need help. Not the kind comedian Jerry Lewis wants to offer which is violence. They need spiritual help and it will only come through Jesus. Put Jesus first .... everything else just naturally and spiritually falls into place. It happens daily to thousands.
