Police wound teen who pointed gun at them in North Hollywood

Los Angeles police shot and critically wounded a 16-year-old boy who allegedly pulled a gun on officers during a narcotics investigation in the San Fernando Valley, authorities said Tuesday.

The incident was reported Monday around 6:30 p.m. at Saticoy Street and Morella Avenue in North Hollywood.

Plainclothes LAPD narcotics detectives were there conducting a drug-related investigation and spotted the boy selling drugs, department officials said.

When the officers went to talk to him, he pulled out a gun and pointed it at the detectives. Police returned fire, hitting him multiple times.

The LAPD did not immediately identify the officers. The unidentified suspect was in critical but stable condition at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, authorities said.

Thank goodness the cops are doing their job. These criminals with guns are all over our neighborhood.

I'm sorry but I don't believe he had a gun and pointed it at them. True, these streets are full of lil gangbanger types but I also know that the police are gun happy too.

malsings07, the man with all the information. Thanks for your "informed" opinion.

man they violatin his right to sell crack an shoot n rob!

Don't commit crimes and the police won't shoot you.

Why is the Times calling him a "BOY"? Little boys ask cops for baseball cards or to check out their police car not sell crack and point guns at them....That same "BOY" would have robed and killed if given the chance...

malsings07,

Using your logic, police will never do thier job. So sad yoiu give more credence to a drug dealer than those working to keep our streets safe.

Glad this guy is off the streets and that the police are doing thier job!

It is true what they say, "You just can't kill vermin."

Did Sen. Gloria Romero chime in on this one yet? The LAPD should have used non lethal means to subdue this suspect, why did they have to shoot him.....waaaaah!

The parents are the ones to blame, sadly the mom cause more then likely dad was never around.

Then why was he shot from behind if he's pointing a GUN.
