Man arrested in Bell Gardens double murder
Noe Ramirez, 20, of Los Angeles has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting deaths of two men at a backyard party in Bell Gardens early Saturday morning. He is being held on $1 million bail.
Ramirez was arrested at the scene of a fight that broke out during a party with about 20 people behind a house 6900 block of Adamson Avenue about 2 a.m. on Sept. 18, authorities said. Several people were apparently involved.
“Several shots were then fired from what appears to have been multiple weapons,” said Sheriff’s homicide Lt. Pat Nelson. “Two of the victims lost their lives at that party and more were injured.”
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified one of the men as Sebastian Avila, 26, of Pico Rivera. The name of the second victim, a 21-year-old Bell Gardens man, was not being released because the next of kin have not been notified, said Christie McCracken, a coroner’s investigator.
A 27-year-old Bell Gardens woman was shot in a limb during the melee, authorities said, and is recovering. An 18-year-old man was found badly beaten. He remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting the Bell Gardens Police Department, said the investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.
