Inglewood man held in death of girl, 5

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder Friday in connection with the slaying of a 5-year-old girl who was found unconscious in an extended stay hotel near LAX.

Authorities were called to the Airport Parkview Hotel on West Century Boulevard on Thursday regarding “a baby not breathing,” according to the Inglewood Police Department.

Paramedics performed CPR on the girl and rushed her to the emergency room of a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The child’s male caretaker was arrested after a preliminary investigation by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office determined the child died of blunt-force trauma to the head, police said.

The man, whom police did not immediately identify, was being held without bail in the Los Angeles County Jail.
