Firefighters control South Pasadena brush fire

September 26, 2010 | 10:28 pm

A brush fire broke out Sunday night in the heat-stoked hills of South Pasadena, but it was quickly brought under control by a swarm of fire engines and helicopters.

Firefighters and helicopters from Los Angeles joined their counterparts from South Pasadena to douse flames that consumed at least 2 acres of heavy brush and came perilously close to homes in the hilly neighborhood.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire, but remained on the scene to make sure that hot spots didn’t flare up during the sweltering, smoky night.
