Man, 84, found dead in Monterey Hills home in possible homicide

An 84-year-old man was found dead Wednesday in his ransacked Monterey Hills homes in a case police are calling a possible homicide.

Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the home in the 3700 block of Collis Avenue about 10:15 a.m. to find the man dead, according to spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Police were still trying to determine how he died and declined to say if his death was related to a burglary.

“It just happened this morning, so we’ve got a long ways to go,” said Karen Rayner, an LAPD spokeswoman.
