Elderly man dies after being rescued from Watts house fire

An elderly man died Sunday after sustaining injuries in a Watts house fire, Los Angeles City Fire spokesman Erik Scott said.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 8 a.m. to a single-story home in the 840 block of East 91st Street, where they discovered two rooms on fire, Scott said. The man was found inside the home in grave condition and was transported to a local hospital, where he died. His name and age were not given.

The fire was extinguished in 14 minutes, Scott said. The cause is under investigation.
