September 16, 2010 |  9:34 pm

Authorities on Thursday were searching for a man suspected of attempting to molest an 8-year-old girl in Calabasas.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said the man lured the child to a secluded area in the 23600 block of Park Capri about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

“When the suspect attempted to commit a sex crime against the child, the child was able to run away to safety,” the department said in news release.

The man was described as a white male, about 30 years old, with sandy blond hair. He was wearing tan shorts, is approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. MacLean with the Special Victims Bureau at (562) 946-8293 or the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at (818) 878-1808.
