Altadena man arrested on suspicion of severely beating sister

September 16, 2010 |  9:27 pm

An Altadena man was booked on charges of attempted murder Thursday for allegedly beating his sister so severely that she was hospitalized with cuts and broken bones, authorities said.

Rodney Poole, 52, was arrested after Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies found him in a parked car near the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. He was bleeding from what authorities suspect were self-inflicted cuts to both sides of his neck.

Sheriff's Lt. Greg Sisneros said Poole called a relative Thursday morning, despondent over the attack on his sister, which occurred Wednesday night in the 600 block of West Crosby Street.

Poole was booked after he was treated for his wounds and will be transferred to the Men’s Central Jail, said sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker.

Deputies said Poole beat his sister with his hands, fists and feet. Authorities did not release her name but said the Altadena woman remains hospitalized in stable condition.
