Worst Trader Joe's parking lots: Blogging L.A. put together a list of the five worst Trader Joe's parking lots in the city. The one at Arroyo Parkway tops the list:

But, all the mushy love I have for Trader Joe's is nearly outweighed by how much I hate it for having absolutely awful parking lots. If you don't live near one of their new and improved stores – i.e., the ones at Hollywood and Vine or Olympic and Barrington – then you're stuck with an archaic lot that is a one-way traffic jam from hell.

Long Beach considers corporate sponsors: The Long Beach Post reports the city is considering corporate sponsorships to bolster its budget:

In an effort to increase revenue by attracting corporate sponsorships, the City of Long Beach will examine programs used by cities such as San Diego, Costa Mesa and San Francisco that could provide a boost to Long Beach's plagued general fund budget.

Sunset Junction festival: Laist reports the Sunset Junction Street Festival, which will be held this weekend, has an interesting history:

30 years ago former Beverly Hills hairdresser Michael McKinley did something different, something police said wouldn't work. He said he would produce a festival to ease tensions between the gay community and latino gangs with rival gang members working as security.

Downtown lofts turn 10: Blogdowntown writes about the San Fernando Lofts' 10th anniversary:

Many thought Gilmore crazy for his plan to open hundreds of lofts on a corner that was so close to Skid Row, but the project was a quick success. An L.A. Times story from July of 2000 noted that half of the 70 units in the project's first phase had already leased two months before they opened.
