Paris Hilton 'extremely embarrassed' as police searched SUV, report says

Paris Hilton was "extremely embarrassed" after Las Vegas police pulled her SUV over Friday night and allegedly discovered cocaine in a purse she was carrying, according to a police report.

Police said they pulled over Hilton's vehicle because they smelled marijuana coming from it. When they did so, a crowd gathered, with some taking pictures.

Hilton was "extremely embarrassed, due to all the people taking pictures of her," the report said.

Police allege they found 0.8 grams of cocaine in a purse she was carrying. Hilton denied that the purse was hers but said other items in it, including asthma medication, credit cards and $1,300 in cash, were hers, according to a police report.

Hilton was arrested with her boyfriend, Las Vegas nightclub operator Cy Waits, who was driving the black SUV stopped by police at 11:22 p.m. Friday.

Hilton is expected to be charged with felony drug possession by Clark County prosecutors, based on the police report.

Hilton and Waits were stopped near the Wynn Hotel, where a crowd gathered as officers prepared to search the Cadillac Escalade for narcotics, according to the report. Hilton told the officer she needed to use the bathroom and was escorted into the hotel.

Lt. Dennis Flynn of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Hilton carried the purse into the hotel, and he had her place it on a table in a security room. As they waited for a female officer to arrive to help with the search, Hilton asked for her purse to get lip balm.

"As she began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in a clear baggy begin to fall from the purse and into my hand," Flynn wrote. "I then immediately took the purse and dropped the bindle back on the top," waiting for another officer to witness the recovery.

The lieutenant asked "Hilton whose cocaine it was, and she said she had not seen it and" thought it was gum, he wrote in the report.

Hilton told him she borrowed the purse, but the cash, asthma medication, credit cards and Zig-Zag cigarette rolling papers inside were hers, Flynn said.

She allegedly told Flynn that the cosmetics in the purse were not hers. Flynn noted that Zig-Zags are typically used to roll marijuana cigarettes.

Hilton's attorney, David Chesnoff, urged people not to "rush to judgment."

"This matter will be dealt with in the courts, not in the media, and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law," he said in a statement.

Waits was booked on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

His attorney, Richard Schonfeld, says the two are innocent and the facts will exonerate them.

How could this woman be embarrassed? Really!

Didn't she get famous from an "embarrassing" video a few years ago?

Her "business" is being embarrassing.

After her experience in LA, I would have thought that she might have realized that her every move ... It's beginning to look like her elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.

WITH REGARDS TO PARIS HILTON, SHE NEEDS TO FIND SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT IN HER WEATHLY LIFE TO DO OTHER THAN DRUGS. IT IS A REAL SHAME THAT SOMEONE WITH SOME MUCH NOTORIETY TO BE SO INVOLVED WITH DRUGS INSTEAD OF TRY TO HELP STOP THE USAGE OF DRUGS. I HOPE HER PARENT AND THEIR MONEY DO NOT GET HER OUT OF THIS ONE..SHE DOES NEED TO LEARN THAT HER ACTIONS ARE SUBJECT TO THE LAWS OF THE LAND.

GUILTY!

PRISON TIME!

Paris, Paris, Paris what are we going to do with you, you silly little girl?  You really stepped in it this time.

It's a felony this time.  That means prison time, not just a couple of days in jail.  It also means your jet-setting days are over because all the best places refuse entry to people like you with drug related felonies.

Well, here's to ya kiddo.  You sure had a good time while it lasted.  See you in the funny papers.

Hahahahahahahahhahahaha oooooo too rich.

Let me guess ... the drugs belong to the same "friend" who took the rap when Hilton was arrested for drug possession in South Africa.

Some years ago, Los Angeles Times described a curious case, where some neighbors called the police, complaining about a guy walking around with a pistol in the waistband. The police came, busted the guy (the gun was real), and when it came to explanations, the guy told them that actually the pants weren't his, he just had borrowed them, and he didn't notice that there was a gun in the waistband. Looks like Paris Hilton is that guy's sister - and she sure has a strong case.

When you are caught red handed the best thig to do is plead Felony Stupid. She is an expert at that defense. This is another Lohan but with more money and higher grade lawyers. She'll skate pretty quick.

'Hilton told him she borrowed the purse, but the cash, asthma medication, credit cards and Zig-Zag cigarette rolling papers inside were hers, Flynn said.'

And............the dog ate my homework.

Ok, I get it that the girl likes to party - no big deal - but she has her own driver, right? She can afford to leave the party favors in her room and have someone driver her fanny around to avoid carrying.

I'd be embarrassed too. She knows how much attention she brings to herself, she must be extra cautious. She represents her family as well.

And who's that guy she's with? He surely is not watching out for her.

SHE NEEDS TO GET LOCKED UP!

A felony for less than a gram of Coke? Thats the most ridiculous part of this story....

she seems worldly enough to me to know where most women hide their drugs.

How do the police smell marijuana from a moving vehicle, and where is the marijuana that they smelled, this whole story smells to me.

Hey, anyone out there want to step forward and claim you lent Paris your purse? You'll be charged with a felony, but if it's your first you probably won't do any time. I'm sure Paris will reward you handsomely, plus maybe even make you her new BFF. Think about it, ladies - it could be a good move!

Chesnoff kid of people is what is wrong with our system. Paris is using her money and fame to mock our system of laws and justice. She should be in jail like any other average joe for this type of narcotic crime. Why she is walking away like a Royalty with absolutely no punishment? LVPD should be ashamed of their favroable treatment of all these good for nothing drug junkies like Paris and other celebrities.

She is not very Bright, she should have said that everything was hers except the Coke. Then she could have said that the Cops Planted the Goods and she MAY of had a Chance, but no way can she deny the Purse that has HER own personal Junk in it, including lots of Cash, If this little Rich Socialite gets the Electric Chair, I can only say "More Power To Her"

Paris, if you can't do the Time, don't do the Crime..

this is so funny,,everything in her purse was hers except the cocaine..what a defense..haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

If she wasn't driving, who in the world was she hurting before the police began their "surveillance" of her? Why should any private citizen be followed leaving a smoking car in Las Vegas? Seriously? Is this really how we want to spend our tax dollars?

Wake up America! These times are too difficult to be wasting our police with such nonsense. All schadenfreude aside, this is NOT news, and it's a shame that anyone would think that this is judicious use of our limited police resources.

she should be embarrassed for lying to the police. I'm sure she thought the cocaine was a piece of gum and that the purse wasn't hers. Like, she's always carrying around other people's purses, w/ her belongings inside, including cocaine.

Yea, right Paris.

Yea, right Paris.

Here's how I think it happened. The SUV was the only vehicle, and it was stopped at a stop light. Inside, Paris and her boyfriend were smoking a joint like a cigarette, blowing smoke everywhere with the windows open. A motorcycle patrol officer pulled up, smelled the odor, saw the that SUV was the only automobile in the vicinity, so what else? He pulled it over.

"As she began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in a clear baggy begin to fall from the purse and into my hand," Flynn wrote. "I then immediately took the purse and dropped the bindle back on the top," waiting for another officer to witness the recovery.

Going to be hard to find a judge to believe this story, even in Nevada. The cocaine evidence will be thrown out as coming from an illegal search.
