Man killed in Bellflower drive-by shooting

Two men in a white vehicle drove slowly past a Bellflower home early Saturday and fatally shot a 26-year-old man as he stood in his own front yard, authorities said.

The victim lived in the 17800 block of Ibbetson Avenue and was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival shortly after midnight, Sheriff's Captain Ray Leyva said.

Fifteen prior homicides have occurred within a two-mile radius of the Ibbetson Avenue address since January 2007, according to The Times' Homicide Report.
