Heat wave expected to hit L.A. this weekend
After two months of cool temperatures, forecasters are predicting a new heat wave for this weekend.
The National Weather Service said a high-pressure system is building that will bring high temperatures to Southern California beginning Sunday and lasting through the middle of next week.
Officials said they expect to see temperatures of up to 104 degrees in inland valleys, up to 105 degrees in mountain areas and up to 93 degrees in coastal areas.
The marine layer, which had been keeping the coast cool through much of the summer, is expected to shrink considerably, officials said.
With the high temperatures come concerns about increased fire dangers through next week.
