'Futbol Bandit' arrested in Ventura bank robbery case
A man known as the "Futbol Bandit" has been arrested in connection with two Ventura bank robberies, the FBI said Monday.
Cody Kalin Barnum, 22, who lives in Ventura, was charged in a criminal complaint Monday with one of the bank robberies, which occurred May 17 at a First Bank branch, the FBI said. The other robbery took place June 28 at a U.S. Bank branch.
Barnum had been dubbed the the Futbol Bandit because he was seen wearing a sweatshirt with an international soccer logo.
The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, alleges that Barnum passed a note to a teller that said, "Give me the money or I'll shoot you."
He was being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.
